Rides
The Lessinia High Road
Up out of the vineyards onto the plateau, where the walls are dry-stone, the sky is enormous, and almost nobody goes.
Rides
The eastern shore before the traffic wakes, when the lake is a sheet and the road belongs to whoever got up.
There is a window on Garda — roughly an hour either side of sunrise — when the lake goes flat, the light comes low across the water from the Brescian side, and the shore road is empty. It does not last. Everything about this ride is arranged around being on that road inside that window.
We leave early enough that it feels slightly unreasonable, ride the shore while it is still cold, and stop for coffee when the day has properly begun. It is not a hard ride. It is a ride you remember for the first ninety minutes.
A sequence, not a schedule. Times are set once dates are fixed.

Dinner in Valpolicella for twenty or so members, with the makers at the table rather than on a stage.
